Fuess Model I reflecting goniometer
Fuess Model I reflecting goniometer and multipurpose optical instrument. Developed for high precision research to measure variations of crystal angles in a heating unit (missing).
Diameter of graduated circle 25 cm, graduation on solid silver. Four verniers with corresponding read out lenses. Both collimator and observation telescope fitted with Nicol prisms rotatable around its axis and small graduated circles similar to a Jamin/Sénarmont circle.
Signed R.Fuess, Berlin, circa 1870-1875. In 1879 the four read out lenses of the Model I goniometers were replaced by two micrometer microscopes.

Horizontal circle reflecting goniometer (black lacquered and nickel plated brass) with covered graduated circle and vernier read-out (both silver plated), telescope and collimator with Websky signal, adjusting wheels, and goniometer head. Height 27 cm, circle diameter 15 cm.
Signed on the cover for the graduated circle "R.Fuess, Berlin - Steglitz", and numbered "7090", first half 20th century.

Horizontal circle reflecting goniometer (brass) with covered graduated circle and vernier read-out lenses, telescope with set of interchangeable oculars (in their case), revolving collimator disc with four signals (linear slit, Schrauf signal, round pinhole, Websky slit), adjusting wheels, and goniometer head. Lacquered black painted cast iron base. Height 25 cm, circle diameter 15 cm.
Signed on the cover of the graduated circle "R. Fuess, Steglitz bei Berlin". Inventory numbers IVd49 (scratched on circle cover) and much recent 35589 (written with white paint on a foot). ca. 1900.

Darkening Accessory for Fuess goniometers, lacquered brass (partly lacquered black) and plush, in its leather-covered, dark red plush-lined case. Length 16 cm. Fits on Fuess Models II, III, IV and IVa.
Unsigned, but only made by R. Fuess, ca. 1894.

Babinet goniometer, Lerebours et Secretan, Paris
Brass retaining its original laquer, silvered scales, replacement wooden base. The column is height adjustable, and the circle can be tilted from horizontal to vertical.
Signed Lerebours et Secretan, dating it not later than 1855, when the business was continued by Secretan alone.
Babinet goniometer / refractometer
Brass circle (21 cm) with fixed collimator and rotatable telescope and central platform with vernier read-outs. Total height : 39 cm. This type of instrument, often called "Babinet’s goniometer", was originally designed for the measurement of interplanar angles and refractive indexes; it was used also for spectroscopic investigations.
Signed "Ph & F Pellin Paris", 2nd half 19th century.
Babinet goniometer, Ed. Lutz
Babinet-type goniometer, 40 cm high which can be adjusted upwards to 55 cm. The circle is 18 cm diameter, engraved every 1/2 degree for the full 360 degrees. Read by two one minute verniers. Collimator tube and viewing telescopes are 16 cm long. It has a precision leveling system for the central glass pad.
